Cardiff’s seagull population ‘largest in the... →
Cardiff’s seagull population could be the largest in the world, an expert has warned. And that is despite increasing by only 3% per year, for the past five years. The annual growth of the population of urban gulls, those that nest in Cardiff and surrounding areas, has increased to 3,339 pairs in 2011 from 2,899 pairs in 2006, possibly making it the largest colony in Britain.

(Imaginary) Fears Tesco would 'destroy' Pontcanna →
cardiffblogger: I love this story, which was published on WalesOnline yesterday. People are now so afraid of Tesco that as soon as a shop closes down, they start protesting and imagining what it would do to the area - even when Tesco have denied that they are even looking to move into the area! Talk about…

Police use bendy bus as decoy to trap... →
They borrowed the 60ft vehicle and a driver from Cardiff Bus in a last-ditch attempt to catch yobs whose stone-throwing attacks on services in Ely, Cardiff, had become so frequent the company was on the verge of pulling out of the area. Half a dozen uniformed officers donned casual jackets to look like ordinary passengers and, together with a dog handler and police dog, boarded the bus and...

Tesco ban on shoppers in pyjamas →
Elaine Carmody, 24, a full-time mother of two young boys, described the ban as “ridiculous” and “pathetic”. […] She said she had been “popping in for a pack of fags,” but if she had been doing a full shop “then we obviously would have gone in clothed”.

Cliff Arnall, the psychologist who ‘calculated’ that Monday is the most depressing day of the year is urging Britons to “refute the whole notion” and be cheerful instead. Now Playing: Cheap-and-Schlocky Blockbuster... →
It’s a chilly night in northern Wales, and on the set of the upcoming movie Sherlock Holmes, the famed detective is scampering around a candlelit, 400-year-old stone barn, trying to stab a robot. This is supposed to be one of the film’s most gripping moments: a plot-twisting showdown that finds a sword-wielding Holmes battling a homicidal steampunk droid. But because it was choreographed at the...
